I didn’t grow up living the big adventurous life. My dad took us fishing, and every once in a while, we would go on a camping trip. Living in Kansas seemed to inspire more hang time with family than mountain hiking. But I did grow up with a desire to do more. I knew there was a big world out there, and I wanted to see it.

But it took me a long time to get there. 40+ years. I let life control me for a very long time. I went with the flow of everything and managed things that came my way the best I could. Eventually, I knew that I could do better, and I did.

I started a little meet-up group in 2015 called Women on Adventures (this turned into a business), got sober in 2016, and that’s when the real big life started to happen. Funny how when you stop checking out of your life you get to really check in.
